Our Portland Studio is looking for a highly motivated Graphic Designer with extensive environmental graphics experience, working on exhibitions and/or other spatial design mediums with a can-do attitude.

The Graphic Designer will work closely with the creative team — and play a leadership role — in creating memorable visitor experiences, as well as integrating text, images and media of all kinds. The Graphic Designer works as a member of an integrated team that includes content developers, exhibit designers, media designers and developers, marketing specialists, and the client.

As a member of the team, your responsibilities include:

  • Participate in conceptual development and illustrate design concepts through a variety of mediums depending on the project scope of work
  • Develop graphic standards and hierarchies per project style and content
  • Attend internal and client meetings to understand the content and materials available to bring the exhibition graphic elements to life both interpretively and creatively
  • Develop designs from conceptual, ideation stage to the final design, construction design and implementation
  • Lead a team of designers and work in a team environment including G&A staff, subcontractors, clients, suppliers and industry contacts
  • Present confidently to client teams
  • Work within tight schedules, in a fast-paced working environment
  • Multi-task; able to lead and work on several different projects at a time
  • Travel to meetings and site visits as required by projects
  • Responsible for maintaining client missions and design objectives throughout the project
  • Disseminate work within the graphics team when appropriate; review and approve design deliverables as required
  • Provide updates and milestone deliverables to creative director for review/input
  • Coordinate and manage meetings pertaining to graphic and interpretive development
  • Conduct design sessions with the team to develop and monitor design and direction
  • Work with production teams to maintain design integrity within project documents and artwork, and to coordinate and itemize presentation deliverable, format and schedule
  • Responsible to project budget and schedule; coordinate with team leaders to monitor/manage design man-hours

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental graphic design or related field
  • Strong technical drawing skills
  • Adobe CS Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), MS Office or Keynote.
  • Proven experience in multiple phases of the design process including conceptualization, design development, and design intent drawings. (CA experience is a plus), good knowledge of fabrication techniques and materials standards of exhibit design, excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and illustrative), and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
