Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on, results driven Accounting Manager to be a key leader in our growing Finance organization. This proven Finance leader will oversee all accounting and payroll functions, manage the month-end financial close process as well as partner with the CFO and cross-functional leaders to drive strategic initiatives to enable growth and scalability across the organization. This position will report to the CFO and will lead an expanding team. The ideal candidate needs to be a team player and possess the ability to manage multiple work streams in an exciting and collaborative environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting functions including two staff accountants
  • Manage/process bi-weekly payroll cycles, ensuring timely state and local registration and filing of state income taxes and payroll taxes (currently use Paycom) 
  • Oversee the Staff Accountant in fixed asset ledger maintenance, A/P, bank and other balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reconcile intercompany and payroll job cost allocations
  • Prepare checks, wires, and ACH disbursements
  • Deposit physical checks (via remote scanning machine)
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Collaborate with the CFO on the annual budgeting process, forecasting, and monthly variance analysis including deep dives into operational and financial issues as needed
  • Promote and help us achieve a paperless accounting function 
  • Partner with the CFO on the development of scalable accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes (e.g. new ERP anticipated for mid 2024, automated workflows, seamless/easy to adopt expense solution)
  • Work with the CPA firm on annual tax forms, including federal and state returns and annual review
  • Assist with the upgrade from Deltek Vision to Deltek Vantagepoint
  • Oversee the credit card (Amex) monthly processing

Qualifications

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles
  • Prior experience managing payroll process 
  • High proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Prior experience in professional services or project based company required – design or architectural industry preferred
  • Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint experience required 
  • Adaptability and enthusiasm for new challenges, innate curiosity and a passion for learning
  • A collaborative mindset that is open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives and feedback
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required, CPA preferred
  • 6+ years of related experience required

  • Prolonged periods sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer
