Technical Designer

Seeking an experienced 3D designer/drafter who has ability to create detailed shop/construction drawings; create organized drawing sets for permanent and temporary museum exhibition design projects.

Responsibilities

Managing multiple projects from design development, construction documents
to review of shop drawings
Create and build 3D models from CAD files
Prepare design details to museum standards, including archival requirements
Collaborates with designers, sub-consultants and fabricators to complete
work within deadlines
Assist in developing or revising design standards and/or specifications
Assist with on-site supervision of construction phase

Specific Skills

Proficient in AutoCAD
3D software – Sketchup and 3D StudioMax preferred. Enscape and other are a plus.
Knowledge of museum exhibition manufacturing techniques preferred
Knowledge of archival casework standards preferred
Knowledge of detailing interface with lighting and media
B.A in Architecture, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent work experience
Events and Trade show work experience is not valid for this position
Quantity Survey (QS) and Cost Estimating capabilities a huge plus
