Key Responsibilities
Clients and Consultants
- Proficient understanding of G&A’s scope of work
- Proficient understanding of consultants’ contracts / scope of work
- Presents designs at client meetings (travels to)
- Leads consultant coordination meetings
- Leads design workshops (internal and with client stakeholders)
- Leads on-site observations and other documentation during the CA phase of work.
- Participates during Construction Administration and Installation phases (travels to)
Design and Documentation
- Fluency in documentation standards and practices
- Fluency in visualization standards and practices
- Proficient understanding of architectural coordination issues
- Proficient understanding of design planning issues
- Proficient understanding of storytelling techniques
- Proficient understanding of materials, fabrication processes and techniques
- Working understanding of the zeitgeist
- Translates CAD information from clients/architects to suit G&A design purposes and processes
- Fluency in Vectorworks
- Coordinates designs with graphic, content, media and technology elements
- Develops 3D digital models
- Develops design direction sketches
- Develops presentation plans/elevations/sections/axons, visualizations, and flythroughs
- Develops image mood boards and finish palettes
- Develops fabrication intent documentation (drawings / specifications)
- Develops architectural coordination documentation (drawings / specifications)
- Contributes to the organizing idea and strategy stack
Management: Design and Production
- Fluency in project phases
- Proficient understanding of ROM implementation costs information
- Proficient understanding of exhibition implementation schedule
- Generates work plans for teams
- Leads coordination with Building and Exhibit systems
- Reviews RFI’s, shop drawings & material submittals
- Maintains project file and folder system
TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruiting / Hiring
- Refers people in their professional network for jobs
- Interviews candidates
Capability Workflow
- Proficient understanding of G&A best practices for file and folder maintenance
- Iterates, and maintains adherence to the team’s application of processes, tools, and templates
- Develops team-level digital assets
- Develops material library assets
- Develops vendor contacts for materials and furnishings
Professional Development
- Proficient understanding of Situated Media / Universal Design / Material Culture
- Proficient understanding of all team software and tools
- Proficient understanding of communications
- Attends weekly team meetings
- Mentor Junior and Intermediate designers
- Trains Intermediate designers
- Troubleshoots project challenges with team members with an eye toward developing their creative problem-solving skills and self-sufficiency. Escalates concerns as needed and works collaboratively with project leadership to resolve these concerns.
- Performs QA checks, working with Project Manager and Senior staff
Marketing/External Development
- Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops, bringing back learning and disseminating the information
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional experience in exhibition design, museum design, or closely related fields
- Track record of successfully leading complex, high-profile exhibition projects from concept to completion
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exhibition Design, Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related field
- Extensive portfolio demonstrating leadership on significant projects
- Advanced mastery of design software (Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, etc.)
- Expert knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, construction techniques, and emerging technologies
- Deep understanding of spatial storytelling, visitor experience principles, and exhibition evaluation
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and communicate design concepts to diverse stakeholders
- Comprehensive knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, and project management for exhibition projects
- Experience supervising design teams and mentoring mid-level and junior designers
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards, universal design principles, and inclusive exhibit practices
- Expertise in lighting design, multimedia integration, and interactive elements
- Familiarity with museum standards, conservation requirements, and international exhibition best practices
- Experience with business development, proposal writing, and pitching to potential clients

Occasional travel to our hub locations or other company sites may be required for team meetings, training sessions, or special projects. However, such travel will be planned well in advance, and expenses will be covered by the company.
