Exhibit Designer

We are seeking an experienced and creative Mid-Level Exhibit Designer to join our collaborative team. In this role, you will lead the design development of exhibition projects, from concept through implementation, while mentoring junior designers and coordinating with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative exhibition concepts, narratives, and spatial designs that align with client objectives and visitor needs
  • Create comprehensive design packages including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details
  • Produce high-quality 2D and 3D visualizations, renderings, and presentation materials
  • Specify materials, finishes, lighting, interactive elements, and technology solutions
  • Present concepts to clients and stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with content developers, graphic designers, and multimedia specialists to ensure cohesive visitor experiences
  • Resolve technical challenges and ensure design intent is maintained with detailers and fabrication partners
  • Develop detailed cost estimates and work within established budgets
  • Conduct research on exhibition trends, technologies, and innovative approaches
  • Mentor junior designers and provide design direction on assigned projects
  • Monitor project schedules and coordinate design deliverables
  • Perform site visits for space assessment, field verification, and installation oversight
  • Contribute to business development efforts including proposals and pitch presentations

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exhibition Design, Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related field
  • 3+ years of professional experience in exhibition, museum, or experiential design
  • Proven portfolio demonstrating creative thinking, technical proficiency, and successful project completion
  • Advanced proficiency in design software including Vectorworks, Rhino3D, Enscape, D5 and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong understanding of spatial storytelling, user experience, and visitor flow
  • In-depth knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and construction techniques
  • Experience with lighting design principles and applications
  • Familiarity with ADA requirements and inclusive design principles
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Collaborative mindset with effective interpersonal skills

 

Preferred

  • Experience with  Vectorworks, Rhino3D,or other advanced 3D modeling software
  • Knowledge of interactive and digital media integration
  • Understanding of sustainable design practices and materials
  • Knowledge  of ADA requirements and inclusive design principles

  • Experience managing small to medium-sized projects
  • Familiarity with museum standards, conservation requirements, and exhibition best practices
  • Experience in interpretive planning or content development
  • Experience with prototyping and model making
  • Industry certifications or specialized training

Occasional travel to our hub locations or other company sites may be required for team meetings, training sessions, or special projects. However, such travel will be planned well in advance, and expenses will be covered by the company.
